Obstestrical complications

When health concerns or complications arise during pregnancy, your obstetrician or midwife might call on our providers to help manage your care. Many pregnancy complications can affect your health or the health of your unborn child. It is important to get routine prenatal care so these concerns can be identified quickly and addressed without delay.

Obstetrical complications commonly co-managed by maternal-fetal medicine specialists include:

  • Preeclampsia.
  • Preterm labor.
  • Placenta previa.
  • Placental abruption.
  • Gestational diabetes.
  • Abnormal fetal growth (fetuses that grow too slowly or are excessively large).
  • Premature rupture of membranes.
